The following information is for oily, sensitive, pigmented and tight facial skin. Look for these ingredients in the skin care products you buy to get the maximum benefits.

Good Skin Care Ingredients

1. To decrease skin inflammation:

- Aloe vera
- Arctium lappa (burdock root)
- Boswellia serrata
- Chamomile
- Cucumber
- Dexpanthenol (provitamin B5)
- Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice extract)
- Licochalone
- Mallow
- Niacinamide
- Red algae
- Rose water
- Salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid, or BHA)
- Silymarin
- Sulfacetamide
- Sulfur
- Tea tree oil
- Zinc

2. To lessen acne:

- Azelaic acid
- Benzoyl peroxide (unless you experience facial redness)
- Resorcinol (dark-skinned OSPTs should use with caution)
- Retinol
- Salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid, or BHA)
- Tea tree oil (can cause allergy in some people)

3. To prevent pigmentation:

-Niacinamide

4. To reduce pigmentation:

Use for dark spots, melasma or undesirable pigmentation

- Arbutin
- Azelaic acid
- Bearberry extract
- Cucumber extract
- Epilobium angustifolium (willow herb)
- Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice extract)
- Kojic acid
- Mulberry extract
- Resorcinol (dark-skinned OSPTs should use with caution)
- Salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid, or BHA)
- Skin Care Ingredients to Avoid 1. If acne prone: Butyl stearate
- Cinnamon oil
- Cocoa butter
- Cocos nucifera (coconut oil)
- Decyl oleate
- Isocetyl stearate
- Isopropyl isostearate
- Isopropyl myristate
- Isopropyl palmitate
- Isostearyl isostearate
- Isostearyl neopentanoate
- Jojoba oil
- Myristyl myristate
- Myristyl propionate
- Octyl palmitate
- Octyl stearate
- Peppermint oil

3. If you have skin allergies or rashes:

- Benzoyl peroxide
- Fragrances
- Lanolin
- Parabens
- Propylene glycol-2 (PPG-2)

4. Sunblock ingredients to avoid

Due to skin sensitivity, some OSPTs experience stinging, burning, and redness in reaction to certain ingredients commonly used in sunscreens. If this occurs, stop using the offending product immediately and avoid these ingredients:

- Avobenzone
- Benzophenone
- Butyl methoxydibenzoyl methane
- Isopropyldibenzoylmethane
- Methylbenzylidene camphor
- Octyl methoxycinnamate
- Para-amniobenzoic acid (PABA)
- Phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid
