One of the main reasons for enlarged pores is sebum. Excessive sebum secretion accumulates waste and impurities at the entrance of the pores which results in inactive sebum activity leading to even bigger pores. It’s a snowball effect of pores.
So, people with oily skin types tend to have larger pores than people with dryer skin.
1. Thorough Cleansing to Minimize Pores
The best method of preventing an increase in your pores is to create an environment where waste cannot accumulate and fill the pores.
How? Cleansing of course.
First, wash your face with warm water and then use a foam cleanser to cleanse your face completely.
2. Cold Packs To Reduce Pores
You can also use a something cold like a cold pack or ice pack wrapped with a towel or tissue to place over pores to tighten them up.
However, if you have a sensitive skin, be careful when placing cold items on your face because you may irritate a capillary.
You could also simply soak a small face towel or hand towel in cold water, place it in the fridge for a few minutes until it chills and then apply on your face.
3. Maintain Healthy Pores with Massages
Facial massages are also good for maintaining elastic skin and to prevent pores from enlarging. When washing your face or applying cosmetics, pat your face with your fingers and make use of smooth circular motions when able.
4. Healthy Lifestyle for Beautiful Skin and Pores
People with beautiful skin tend to live a balanced lifestyle.
First of all, they go to bed early and are early risers. These type of people have elastic skin with tightened pores because their skin is less tired to those that sleep late or have irregular timetables.
If your skin isn’t tired, it also means that you probably don’t have many fine wrinkles, freckles or large pores.
Not wanting to leave out alcohol and cigarettes. These two habits are deadly if you are trying to get firm and elastic skin. Alcohol and smoking promotes sebum secretion and is a huge cause of enlarged pores.
5. Pay attention to acne management
Pimples or acne are also symptoms of enlarged pores. Due to pimples and acne, blackheads and dark spots will also start to appear in pores.
The important thing is to stop squeezing your pimples and to just let it be. It looks terrible and is embarrassing if it anything like the tomatoes that grow on my nose but squeezing it won’t help. Perform the proper cleansing, get all the sweat, dirt and grime out of your pores and if that doesn’t work, looking into acne products or special skin treatment may be an option.
Don’t want to forget that paper facial masks are great for cleansing, moisturizing and reducing the size of pores.
