Benefits of Exercise for Your Skin

The main reason people exercise is to stay fit and in shape. It’s also why I’ve been exercising regularly. But aside from just exercising, a couple of extra things have also been incorporated into my lifestyle -  eating healthy and rest.

If you are like me, I’m very lazy when it comes to exercise. But I want that beautiful figure of a slim and beautiful model ;)

Problem was that I would start and stop due to lack of determination and discipline. Caring for you skin is just the same.

In the busy life we all live, taking even 15 mins to perform some basic cleansing steps seems like a chore and unnecessary. So many times I would just go to bed.

However, with this change in lifestyle that now includes exercise, diet and rest, some great things have been happening to my skin. Below are 5 points I would like you to consider.

1. Get Rid of Pimple and Acne (Anti Acne Effect)

David Berman, a MD at the Berman Skin Institute, has mentioned that there’s

“a lot of indirect evidence that shows that when you exercise your level of stress diminishes. So your adrenal glands are producing less of these male-type hormones that are part of any acne flare-up.”

You have probably experienced that when you are stressed out, breakouts appear on your face. It happens to my husband all the time.

So by exercising, you are reducing stress to calm the adrenals, which contributes to acne.

2. Unclog Pores (Pore Management)

Both intensive weight training and cardio causes you to sweat and sweating helps to unclog pores. This also lowers the possibility of breakouts as described above.

Clogged pores are also one of the main reasons why pimples and breakouts occur. Here are some methods to reduce pores.

3. Improves Aged and Wrinkled Skin (Anti Aging Effect)

Did you know that regular exercise can slow the process of skin aging?

As we are age, the fibroblasts which are collagen-producing cells, become less in number and lazy. As a result, your skin loses elasticity and becomes wrinkly, saggy and droopy. Collagen is the main protein of connective tissues and makes up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content and is directly related to wrinkles, aging skin and fine lines.

The truth is that people who exercise regularly have a much younger appearance. Why is that? Both weight training and cardio influence the natural production of collagen. Exercise also circulates your blood and infuses skin cells with oxygen and other nutrients. This greatly promotes the production of collagen.

While we don’t usually exercise to improve skin, experts do agree that it is effective in slowing down the process of aging skin.

4. Get Rid of Cellulite (Reduce Cellulite Effect)woman_with_weight

A well known benefit of weight training and cardio is that it helps to reduce cellulite, especially around buttocks, back of thighs and upper arms. Less cellulite means your overall body skin will look firmer and tighter and ultimately younger.

5. Benefits to Skin with Impurities and Toxins (Cleansing Effects)

Skin accumulates debris, toxins from chemicals, and impurities daily.

Cardio promotes blood circulation which helps to remove toxins from the skin. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and to continue the activity of blood flow.

Exercising is Cheap and Improves Your Skin

Ever since I started exercising with discipline, my body and appearance certainly has changed. I am witnessing all 5 points mentioned above. But the best part is that my lifestyle, health and skin complexion, especially my facial skin, is great.
