Exercise Improves Skin

In the article where I provided my thoughts on how exercise helps skin care, I went through 5 points on how exercise can help to improve your skin.

Summing up quickly, exercise helps

- control and reduce acne skin
- reduce large pores
- improve collagen production for aging skin
- reduces cellulite
- cleanse debris and toxins from your skin

You put all five points together and the result is that you end up with better complexion, but let's talk about a particular vegetable I am fond of which I'm sure you have used many times - cucumber for skin care

Silica in Cucumber

cucumber22Cucumber is an excellent source of silica, a trace mineral that holds your connective tissues together and contributes to its strength.

Silica has numerous benefits to both skin and health, but since this is a skin care blog, I'll mainly just discuss the issues related to the skin.

In the 1970's and 1980's, studies were conducted on chicks by a doctor by the name of Edith M. Carlisle and her studies proved that silica contained in cucumbers produced 100 times more bone collagen than the chicks not receiving dietary silica. Also, the bones of the chicks receiving silica revealed a slow, yet impressive, rise in calcium content.

Silica's contribution to the strength in the connective tissue is essential for a youthful appearance. It is also proven to be an inhibitor of the aging process in tissues.

A lack of silica and hyaluronic acid accelerates skin aging because the connective tissues cannot efficiently hold water.

Cucumbers are Soothing and Calming

A cucumber also makes for a great treatment to damaged skin caused by sun burn, acne and especially dehydrated skin. Every summer when my skin is exposed to UV rays, it becomes red, sore and burnt. Placing very thin cucumber slices provides a cooling, soothing and revitalizing experience. I do this for 2-3 days and my skin is back to being healthy. Cucumbers also helps to sooth and calm acne skin conditions and if this is a severe problem for you, try eating one whole cucumber a day for 1 month and then see what happens. It's tough to eat one every day but the result will be worth it. Your skin will look fresher, cleaner, firmer and more radiant. Rather than spending money on skin care products that may or may not work, this method is a sure way of saving money as well as getting results.

Hydrate and Replenish Your Skin

As you know, a cucumber hydrates your skin. You can moisturize your skin by applying thin sliced pieces of cucumbers on your skin or an easy and quick method would be to use a cucumber facial mask that already contains cucumber extracts. The high water level in cucumbers helps you to go to the bathroom and has a cleansing action within the body by removing accumulated pockets of old waste chemical toxins. Include cucumber in your diet to improve moisture in your skin by 20%. It's also good for swollen and puffy eyes. You can also try it for dark circles.
